Comprehensive List of Health Checkup Items Needed for a Shenzhen Health Permit

Fitness

Obtaining a Shenzhen Health Permit is a mandatory requirement for individuals working in food service, public bathing facilities, beauty salons, and other industries involving direct public contact. A critical component of this process is completing a comprehensive health checkup that meets the standards set by local health authorities. The following list outlines the essential health checkup items required to qualify for a Shenzhen Health Permit.

1. General Physical Examination

This includes assessment of vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate, height, weight, and overall physical condition. The doctor will also examine the eyes, ears, nose, throat, skin, and lymph nodes for any visible abnormalities.

2. Internal Medicine Checkup

A detailed internal examination evaluates the cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems. This helps detect chronic conditions or infectious diseases that may affect public health.

3. Chest X-ray (Chest Radiography)

To screen for active pulmonary tuberculosis and other respiratory infections, all applicants must undergo a chest X-ray. Individuals showing signs of TB will not be issued a permit until they receive proper treatment and clearance.

4. Liver Function Tests

Blood tests are conducted to assess liver enzymes (ALT, AST), total protein, and bilirubin levels. These help identify hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and other liver disorders.

5. Stool Examination

A fecal sample is analyzed to detect intestinal parasites, such as roundworms or tapeworms, and bacterial infections like Salmonella or Shigella, which could be transmitted through improper hygiene.

6. Complete Blood Count (CBC)

This test checks for anemia, infections, and other blood-related conditions by measuring red and white blood cells, hemoglobin, and platelets.

7. Urinalysis

Urine samples are tested for signs of kidney disease, diabetes, or urinary tract infections, ensuring no underlying systemic illness is present.

8. Skin and Dermatological Examination

Since skin diseases can be contagious, especially in beauty and bathing establishments, a dermatologist inspects for conditions like scabies, fungal infections, or eczema.

9. Gynecological Examination (for female workers in specific sectors)

Women employed in certain high-risk public service roles may be required to undergo a gynecological exam, including vaginal swabs, to rule out sexually transmitted infections.

10. Infectious Disease Screening

All applicants are tested for major infectious diseases, particularly hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), HIV, and syphilis. Positive results may lead to temporary disqualification pending medical evaluation.

It’s important to note that all examinations must be conducted at designated medical institutions authorized by the Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Results are typically valid for one year, after which renewal requires repeating the full checkup. Applicants should bring identification documents, recent photos, and any prior medical records to streamline the process.

By fulfilling these health checkup requirements, individuals not only comply with Shenzhen’s public health regulations but also contribute to a safer and healthier environment for the community. Always verify the latest guidelines with local health authorities, as requirements may be updated periodically.
