Obtaining a health certificate is a crucial step for food delivery riders in China, ensuring both public health safety and compliance with local regulations. From selecting the appropriate medical examination items to understanding the detailed costs involved, this process can seem daunting at first. However, with the right guidance, riders can navigate it smoothly and efficiently.

The first step involves identifying authorized medical institutions approved by local health authorities to conduct health checks for food service workers. These centers typically offer standardized packages tailored specifically for individuals in the food and beverage industry, including delivery personnel. Common examination items include chest X-rays to rule out infectious respiratory diseases, stool tests for bacterial infections, and blood tests to screen for hepatitis and other transmissible conditions.

In addition to clinical tests, applicants are usually required to provide personal identification documents, recent photographs, and proof of employment with a registered food delivery platform. Some cities also require an online appointment through government health portals to streamline the process and reduce waiting times.

When it comes to cost, the price of a health certificate generally ranges from 80 to 150 RMB, depending on the city and medical facility. While platforms like Meituan or Elema may occasionally offer subsidies or reimbursement programs, most riders currently bear the expense themselves. It’s advisable to keep the official receipt after payment, as some companies accept it for partial refund requests.

After completing all required tests, results are typically available within one to three working days. If no abnormalities are detected, the health certificate—often in the form of a laminated card or digital QR code—is issued immediately. This document is valid for one year and must be renewed before expiration to maintain active rider status.

To ensure a hassle-free experience, riders should schedule their appointments during off-peak hours, bring all necessary documents, and follow pre-exam instructions such as fasting if required. By understanding each step—from examination items to fee breakdowns—delivery workers can obtain their health certificates efficiently, stay compliant, and continue serving their communities safely.
