Illustrated Guide to Common Body Parts in English for Young Learners in Third Grade

Fitness

Learning about the human body is an exciting adventure for third-grade students! This illustrated guide introduces common body parts in English with simple words and fun descriptions to help young learners understand and remember each part. From the top of your head to the tips of your toes, let’s explore the amazing machine that is your body!

Your journey begins with your

head

. On your head, you have two

eyes

to see rainbows, books, and your friends’ smiles. You use your

nose

to smell flowers and cookies baking in the oven. Below your nose is your

mouth

, which helps you eat apples, drink water, and speak English words like “hello” and “friend.” Don’t forget your

ears

on the sides of your head—they catch every story and song!

Just below your head is your

neck

, which holds your head up and lets you turn to look around. Your

shoulders

are strong and help your arms move. Speaking of arms, they include your

upper arms

,

elbows

,

forearms

, and

wrists

. At the end of each arm is a

hand

with five

fingers

—perfect for drawing, writing, and giving high-fives!

Your

chest

covers important organs like your heart and lungs. Beneath that is your

stomach

, where food goes after you eat lunch. Wrap your arms around your

back

to feel your spine and muscles at work. On the front and back, your

torso

connects everything together.

Your legs start at your

hips

and go all the way down. The

thighs

are the upper part of your legs, powerful enough to run, jump, and climb. Bend at the

knees

to sit or squat. Below the knees are your

calves

, leading to your

ankles

. Finally, each leg ends with a

foot

that has five

toes

—great for wiggling in the sand or kicking a soccer ball!

To make learning even more fun, draw your own body outline and label each part. Say the names out loud: “This is my eye,” “These are my hands.” With pictures, practice, and play, you’ll master the names of your body parts in no time. Remember, your body is special and strong—take good care of it every day!
